A Lesson

I have barred the gates

of my quiet estates

Installed fences

Reinforced defenses

Scattered mines

Posted signs

Stay out

Keep out

Perhaps I’ve mistaken you for a reader

or an english speaker

Because you still knock

at one o’ clock

or barge in

at two fifteen

pushing your way in

to weep

to sleep

to keep your bed empty

your room happily

Because it can’t handle your own

endless drone

When will you learn?

When will you break that urn

you wear as a face?

When will you learn

space won’t change your shadow’s place?

Meanwhile and just in case,

Stay out

Keep out

Get out.
